Fabio Paes, MD
Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology, University of Miami – Miller School of Medicine
Dr. Fabio Paes is currently an Associate Professor of Diagnostic Radiology at the University of Miami – Miller School of Medicine, also holding the position of Director of Quality and Patient Safety for the department. He completed his internship, Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine residency at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, becoming board certified in Diagnostic Radiology in 2013, and obtained his MBA degree in Healthcare Administration at Florida International University in 2016. Dr. Paes is a full-time faculty in the ER/Trauma Imaging Division, having an active role in the education and training of residents and fellows. He is also an active participant of the American Society of Emergency Radiology (ASER), currently chairing the ASER Website and Learning Academy committee.
David Naeger, MD, FAUR
Director of Radiology, Denver Health; Professor and Vice Chair of Radiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine
Dr. Naeger serves as the Director of Radiology at Denver Health, with oversight of the department’s clinical, research, and educational programs. He also serves as a Professor and Vice Chair in the Department of Radiology at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Dr. Naeger earned his medical degree at Duke University School of Medicine, where he graduated AOA. After medical school, he moved to the University of California-San Francisco (UCSF) to complete his residency in Diagnostic Radiology, during which he served as a chief resident and was awarded the prestigious Elmer Ng Award. At UCSF, he also completed a research fellowship and a clinical fellowship in Thoracic Imaging and Nuclear Medicine. After his training, he was appointed to the faculty at UCSF, ultimately serving as the Department of Radiology’s Associate Chair for Education. In 2019, Dr. Naeger joined Denver Health where he has oversight of Denver Health’s 160-person team, including radiologists, administrators, technologists, nurses, transporters, clerks, and medical physics professionals.
Kathryn Fowler, MD

Kathryn Fowler, MD, is a board-certified radiologist who specializes in body and oncological imaging. She performs liver imaging, hepatobiliary imaging, pancreatic imaging, vascular imaging, magnetic resonance imaging, renal imaging, gynecological imaging, rectal imaging and GI imaging.
Unni Udayasankar, MD

Unni K Udayasankar, MD is a professor and vice chair for quality and safety in the department of Medical Imaging at the University of Arizona. He received his radiology training from Emory University School of Medicine including Pediatric Radiology and Neuroradiology fellowships. After his training he worked as a pediatric neuroradiologist at Cleveland Clinic Hospital from 2010-20215. Currently he also serves as the program director for Neuroradiology fellowship at the University of Arizona. He has an extensive academic credentials including research, education and clinical expertise in the area of pediatric neuroradiology and pediatric radiology. One of his key research interests is utilization of faster imaging techniques in the area of emergency neural matching. He has won many award including teacher of the year award at the Cleveland Clinic.
David L. Smith, MD
Professor of Clinical Radiology/Co-Director of Musculoskeletal Research, LSU Health
Dr. Smith graduated from Yale University (SY ’00) with a BS in Molecular Biology; obtained his Doctorate of Medicine at the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons in New York City (2004); and completed his internship at the University of Tennessee at Memphis (2005). He graduated from Wake Forest University’s Radiology residency program (2009) and from the MRI fellowship at the Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans (2010). His primary academic appointment is as Associate Professor of Radiology at LSU Health New Orleans (since 2010), and he holds joint appointments in the Departments of Medicine and Cell Biology & Anatomy. He also is a faculty member of the South Louisiana Veterans Health Care System hospital in New Orleans where he aids in high-level diagnostic imaging. He practices, teaches, and lectures in Cardiothoracic, Abdominopelvic, and Musculoskeletal subspecialties. He is a member of several professional and academic societies and committees and has lectured nationally and internationally on a range of topics in Radiology, including his area of special interest, Interstitial Lung Disease. Dr. Smith is the Director of Medical Student Education in Radiology at LSU Health New Orleans and teaches medical students, Radiology residents and fellows, and residents and fellows from a number of other specialties daily. Dr. Smith brings to bear his interests and years of study in Classical Antiquity, language and linguistics, philosophy and logic, Western intellectual history, visual arts and music, and woodworking and stained glass crafts as co-director of the Humanities in Medicine courses offered to 2nd and 4th year medical students. He delivers lectures on Radiology topics to students in required courses and electives throughout medical school. Dr. Smith is certified by the American Board of Radiology.
Bharti Khurana, MD, MBA, FACR, FASER
Founder and Director, Trauma Imaging Research and Innovation Center/ Associate Professor, Harvard Medical School
Dr. Bharti Khurana is an associate professor of radiology at Harvard Medical School, an emergency radiologist at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital, and the founding director of the Trauma Imaging Research and Innovation Center (TIRIC). Dr. Khurana is an NIH-funded physician-scientist focusing on developing novel machine-learning tools that have the potential to revolutionize the early detection and prevention of interpersonal violence and traumatic injuries. Her clinical and research efforts involve accurate and meaningful imaging interpretation with rapid application of clinical knowledge for patients in the emergency department. She is the director of the Intensive Review of Emergency Radiology CME course at Harvard Medical School and a research faculty in the Department of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is the author of over 130 peer-reviewed articles, the section editor for UpToDate, and the editor of the Emergency Radiology COFFEE case book.
Dr. Khurana is a fellow of the American College of Radiology and the American Society of Emergency Radiology. She is a scholar of the prestigious Diagnostic Excellence Program at the National Academy of Medicine. With an impressive array of accolades, Dr. Khurana has been honored as the Most Distinguished Physician of the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI), the American College of Radiology (ACR) Innovation Award, and the three-time recipient of the Distinguished Honored Educator Award by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). Dr. Khurana graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, India, and did her residency in diagnostic radiology and fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She holds an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.
Benjamin W. Strong, MD

Ben Strong, MD is Chief Medical Officer of vRad. With a focus on maintaining and finding new ways to enhance our practice environment, Dr. Strong plays a critical role in advancing vRad’s efforts, along with its radiologist and hospital partners, in expanding access, improving quality and reducing the total cost of care.
Dr. Strong joined vRad as a teleradiologist in July 2004, and served as a medical director within vRad’s practice from October 2005 to October 2012. Dr. Strong is board certified in both radiology and internal medicine. Prior to joining vRad, Dr. Strong worked as an emergency room physician for the IHS, as a private practice radiologist for Inland Imaging in Spokane, WA, and as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Radiology for the University of Arizona Health Sciences Center.
Dr. Strong earned his medical degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, Tucson, completed his residency in internal medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, New Hampshire, and completed both a radiology residency and a fellowship in Musculoskeletal MRI at the University of Arizona, Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson. Dr. Strong is licensed to practice in all 50 U.S. states and holds credentials in a number of foreign countries.
