vRad Executive Leadership
Shannon Werb serves as vRad’s President & Chief Operating Officer, responsible for leading the development and execution of vRad’s short and long term strategies and for overseeing vRad’s radiology practice operations, technology platforms, and data strategy.
Prior to being promoted to President, Werb served as vRad’s Chief Operating Officer and Chief Information Officer.
Werb has 20+ years of healthcare information technology experience including expertise in clinical imaging and technical operations, enterprise imaging platform development, product innovation and strategy. This includes overseeing the company’s forecasting, physician services, and U.S.-based, 24×7 client support and operations center, and ensuring service delivery excellence to vRad’s radiologists, clients and the patient communities they collectively serve.
Werb is a recognized healthcare IT authority, advisor and evangelist and was selected as a 2015 “Health IT Change Agent” for leading innovation in radiology by Health IT Outcomes. He has extensive experience leading organizations and successfully developing enterprise solutions to deliver data to medical personnel faster and more cost effectively, resulting in improved clinical processes and an overall better patient experience.
Werb has authored numerous whitepapers and journal publications on subjects including vendor-neutral archiving, next generation PACS, cloud-based solutions, and enterprise content management. He has successfully guided organizations and industries through periods of tremendous disruption, most recently as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Strategy Officer of Acuo Technologies which was successfully acquired by Lexmark’s Perceptive Software business unit in December 2012.
Shannon is an accomplished speaker and author, his successes have garnered recognition in numerous global awards, including: IHS Research – Independent VNA Market Leader (2012/2013); KLAS – VNA Market Leadership in the United Kingdom (2013); and Frost & Sullivan 2011 Product Leadership & 2012 Market Leadership Awards in Enterprise Imaging Informatics (2011/2012).
Chris Anthony serves as Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing with responsibility for vRad’s sales operations, marketing programs, and managing product development and support for both teleradiology and new innovative solutions.
Working at the intersection of sales, customers and market opportunity his team’s goal is to provide insight, direction, support and enablement to sales combined with strategy and corporate alignment all intended to supercharge our sales, marketing and account management teams resulting in optimal performance and growth.
Anthony joined vRad in 2008. Prior to his promotion to Executive VP, Sales and Marketing, he served as vRad’s Vice President Market and Business Development, responsible for overseeing vRad’s core teleradiology sales and growth initiatives.
Gerry Fitterer is vRad’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), responsible for overseeing all financial planning & analysis, accounting and payer services functions.
Prior to joining vRad, Gerry was Chief Financial Officer of Acuo Technologies where he was responsible for finance, accounting, legal and human resources. Gerry was instrumental in the sale and transition of Acuo Technologies to Lexmark’s Enterprise Software business unit when it was acquired in December, 2012. Gerry served as the Finance and Sales Operations leader for Lexmark’s healthcare, government and education sectors of the Enterprise Software business unit.
Before joining Acuo Technologies, Gerry held a number of key executive leadership positions with Jundt Associates including as Chief Financial Officer, Treasurer and Chief Compliance Officer; and also served as Vice President of Finance at Zamba Corporation. Gerry began his career with KPMG, LLP where he served as an Audit Manager and is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Minnesota.
Gerry holds a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of North Dakota and a Masters of Business Administration – Finance from the University of St Thomas—Opus College of Business. Gerry also served and is retired as an officer in the United States Navy.
Gerry enjoys running marathons, biking and fishing in his free time.
Joyce Lauria serves as vRad’s Senior Vice President, Alliance General Manager, responsible for general management of alliance practices and partnering with MEDNAX radiology acquisitions for growth initiatives. Hired in 2013 to drive profit in our alliance practices, Joyce is an accomplished and reliable member of the vRad team. She improved profits under her purview by 225% in her first year at vRad – and has continued to drive significant growth.
Earning her BS from Boston University and her MBA from New York University Stern School of business, Joyce’s work experience has taken her across the U.S. and internationally to London. She has over 20 years of experience, giving her a broad base industry background, including roles at JRL Strategic Consulting, Global Compliance, Dun & Bradstreet, John Hancock Financial Services, J. Walter Thompson and The Walt Disney Company.
Her track record reflects a broad range of skills such as interpreting complex analytical data, creating successful operational processes, solving financial challenges and simplifying solutions across organizations, which have proven to be an invaluable asset to the vRad team.
Ryan joined vRad in January 2010 and currently serves as Vice President and General Counsel, managing vRad’s internal and external legal services related to corporate governance, risk management, compliance requirements, and business transactions.
Before joining vRad, Ryan began his legal career in the Corporate Finance & Transactions group of Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly LLP in Minneapolis, primarily advising clients on corporate governance and M&A transactions.
Ryan received his law degree, summa cum laude, from William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul, Minnesota, and also holds a bachelor of science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
Tricia Sickmann joined vRad in July 2007 and serves as the Vice President of Human Resources & Medical Services, responsible for the strategic and tactical aspects of Human Resources and Medical Services. She is responsible for all aspects of developing strategic initiatives to promote human capital, corporate culture, communication, organizational effectiveness, team member relations, compensation, leadership and professional development for our (500+ radiologists and 300+ team members). She was an active leader in the people integration aspects of vRad’s NightHawk and Alliance acquisitions.
Joe Schmugge serves as vRad’s Vice President of Operations with responsibility for the 24×7 Operations Center Team, Demand Forecasting, Physician Services, and the Radiologist Quality Assurance program.
Prior to being promoted to Vice President, Joe served as the Director of Operations and helped to coordinate the successful transition and integration of three separate practice acquisitions totaling over 1300 hospitals and over 50,000 active client-portal users.
Skilled in practice management, Joe and team enable more than 500 radiologists from initial contracting and onboarding to the real-time support of connecting them with referring physicians to deliver critical findings.
Joining vRad in 2004, Joe brings over a decade of healthcare and team leadership experience to the Operation. He is passionate about patient care and team member development.
With a focus on patient care, there is a constant collaboration and partnership between Operations and the Technology Team. In an effort to build an operation truly powered by next-gen software, the Operations Team is focused on making data-driven decisions and challenging the status quo to find ways to improve.
