Position Overview

This role centers on weekend coverage across a broad mix of hospitals and health systems nationwide. Weekend volume skews heavily emergent, since most routine outpatient imaging is closed, so the work is primarily STAT and urgent studies. You read in a single environment that brings together PACS, RIS, dictation, reporting, and operational support, with fast access to subspecialist colleagues for consults anytime.

Weekend coverage at vRad is predominantly emergent, since most routine outpatient imaging is closed. You read fully remotely, with fast and easy access to colleagues for consults. Plus, when your shift ends, it ends, with no backlog to clear and no staying late.

Responsibilities

• Interpret emergent and routine diagnostic imaging studies remotely
• Communicate critical findings to referring physicians
• Participate in peer review
• Collaborate with operational and IT support teams
• Maintain accurate, compliant documentation
• Deliver timely, high-quality interpretations

Typical Case Mix

Predominantly emergent/ED studies. CT 36%, X-Ray 43%, CTA 9%, Ultrasound 7%, MRI 5%.

Compensation

vRad’s compensation is transparent and productivity-based, and every radiologist reads on the same published rates regardless of tenure. You’re paid by vRad’s Work Unit, calibrated to the time and effort each study takes, and you can track your earnings in real time, with higher pay for nights, weekends, and holidays, and a bonus rate for extra shifts you choose to pick up. For this role, estimated annual compensation is $125,000-$200,000, based on productivity and volume.

Qualifications

• MD or DO
• ABR or AOBR board certified (board eligible if completing training)
• Eligible for U.S. licensure; multi-state licensure a plus
• Fellowship not required
